Elizabeth Truss and Brexit
Boris Johnson tried to promote the position of Elizabeth Truss to take over post-Brexit negotiations. Post Brexit negotiations bored Boris Johnson, and he needed someone to overcome these negotiations.
Elizabeth Truss is one of the most popular ministers of the Cabinet. After 24 hours, she was formally the foreign affairs minister.
This news was very shocking. As soon as David Frost resigned, the announcement of this news was shocking for everyone.
David Frost was one of Johnson’s confidant ministers who surrendered because of the post Brexit situation and Covid 19 increment.
Brexit effects on Elizabeth Truss
Britain’s Foreign Affairs minister is challenging for new situations in Europe.
She is very popular among the people, and now she is responsible for controlling and observing Britain’s relationship after Brexit.
She is responsible for observing the Brexit agreement, negotiating and making solutions for the Northern Ireland trade, and creating a bilateral relationship with European capitals.
Frost, who has been Johnson’s closest member and is his right-hand man, is resigning from his responsibility because he disagrees with the Brexit commitments.
This weekend David frost is quitting his position. Boris Johnson is the person who makes the final decision about Brexit and the way how to continue the relationship with the EU, and he decides whether to continue or cut the ties with the EU. Truss’s mistake can endanger the future conservative leadership.
Will Tanner, director of the onward, think thanks and a former no.10 advisor, said Johnson’s decision to hand Truss the Brexit brief is “an endorsement of her capabilities” and an opportunity for her to show she’s a serious negotiator.
“she needs to deliver the best deal she possibly can for the United Kingdom, and that would be true whether she was a leading contender or not,” he said. “that is a difficult task given some of the demands of the most Eurosceptic wing of the party, but ultimately she will want to come to a resolution because not doing so would have very significant economic consequences for the U.K.-especially in the short-term as we emerge from the pandemic.”
On Wednesday, Boris Johnson elected Elizabeth Truss as the minister of foreign affairs.
She is famous in Britain because of her liberation views on economics and trade and her stupid attitude about Britain’s so-called “woke” culture.
She has a good relationship with other nations to get a fair trade deal with them. But EU diplomats behave carefully about this appointment. They believe that she will not make a different situation.
The critical conservative MPs said she has no new idea to solve the problems, and she does want to have a great profile. She wants to promote her situation and isn’t creating a new position.
The criticizers declare that she has a habit of having friendly relationships with people. She pretends that she is close to people, but she has a ridiculous social situation in reality.
Her labour opponent on trade, Emily Thornberry, was unimpressed by the promotion. “I’m afraid Liz Truss’s appointment will be a return to the Boris Johnson days of someone who thinks they can just bluff their way through the job of foreign secretary without doing any actual hard work or delivering any actual results,” Global Britain” abroad-and rekindling relations with Washington after the Afghanistan fallout.
Liz Truss is going to talk with the EU over NI protocol
Liz Truss as the new chief post-Brexit negotiator, is going to speak to her EU counterpart, Maros Sefcovic, on Tuesday amid renewed calls to rip up the conventional Northern Ireland protocol.
The cabinet minister said: she will achieve a national solution; she is going to negotiate for an agreement. This agreement needs post-Brexit checks on goods arriving in Northern Ireland from Great Britain.
Allies added that she wanted to “hit the ground running” but offered no further details on handling the technical discussions about customs arrangements, which could have broad political ramifications.
Before Christmas, there wasn’t any plan to talk between the EU and UK. But Lord Frost’s resignation surprised the government, especially Boris Johnson.
Sir Jeffery Donaldson, the DUP leader, told the BBC that he had been led to believe by Frost that the talks were struggling to progress: “he felt, I think, that we were fast approaching the time when the UK government needed to take unilateral action.”
John Finucane, a Sinn Fein MP, said the British government should show
“a degree of responsibility and realism” over the protocol, allowing Northern Ireland special access to the EU single market. He said the agreement provided “enormous economic benefit to this jurisdiction”.
One hard-Brexit source on the party’s backbenches said they were supportive of Truss’s appointment but wanted her to “focus on detail and not just the showboating”- after she was pictured riding on a tank in Estonia last month, in a pose reminiscent of Margaret Thatcher.
Lord David Frost, Britain’s Minister, left the stage after his speech on Brexit at the annual Conservative party conference in Manchester, Britain, October 4, 2021.
LISBON, October 12 (Reuters)-it takes two to fix the relationship between Britain and the European Union following the country’s departure from the bloc, British Brexit minister David Frost said on Tuesday amid tensions over trade rules governing Northern Ireland.
“The EU and we have got into a low equilibrium, somewhat fractious relationship, but that it need not always be like that, but also that it takes two to fix it,” he said during his speech in Lisbon.
David frost resigned from the government on Saturday; he delivered his resignation letter in January.
“it is disappointing that this plan has become public this evening; I think it is suitable for me to write to step down with immediate effect, “he said in the letter published by Johnson’s Downing Street office.
Frost told Johnson he had “concerns about the current direction of travel “regarding coronavirus regulations and tax rises.
Johnson responded that he was “very sorry” to receive the resignation.”, given everything you have achieved and contributed to this government”.
