UK Conservative party: Unqualified cabinet and Loyalty to Johnson

Johnson, the leader of the UK Conservative party, has broken many rules. British norms and traditions – such as not lying in Parliament – were weakened daily during his time.

The reason for the actions of Boris Johnson’s appointees was that they were a product of Brexit. No conservative government has ever allowed such unqualified people to be in the cabinet. Their loyalty to Johnson and his lies has promoted them to their current positions. Now, we can watch them jump from Johnson’s falling ship. Soon they will swear allegiance to someone else.

Johnson: Ill-qualified individual for political positions

Boris Johnson, the UK Conservative party leader, is an ill-qualified person for political positions. As the Nation says, Johnson’s selfishness, contempt for truth, and disregard for the convention are evident in his political responsibilities. His political carrier is full of sex, booze, lies scandals. A potent combination of sex, drink, and lies brought him to the brink.

Inside Sources says Boris Johnson has always been a poster boy for the articulate incompetent. However, he rose with wit, bravado, and connections to the highest elective office in Britain, prime minister. Born in New York to British parents, he didn’t renounce his dual citizenship until 2016, when it became a liability politically. Johnson’s weaknesses were apparent. They include sloth, disorganization, lack of preparedness, showing off, and distorting facts. He lost his journalistic job in The Times of London for fabricating a quote. Later, Michael Howard, the distinguished Tory leader, fired him from the ranks of the shadow cabinet also for lying. Johnson worked for the conservative daily, The Telegraph. His peers regarded him as good company but an unreliable reporter.

Johnson’s appointees undermine non-partisan institutions.

Johnson’s appointees have deliberately undermined non-partisan institutions such as the judiciary and the BBC. King’s College London says that Coups happen in other countries. They are not something the public would ever expect in Britain. Since Prime Minister Boris Johnson got power, his Government has threatened parliamentary sovereignty and undermined public confidence in all institutions of governance to an extent never seen before.

Boris Johnson’s appointees: Product of Brexit

According to NBC News, Johnson said the mantra of his leadership campaign had been to deliver Brexit. The Atlantic says no one will claim that Brexit is the reason the Conservative Party lost two by-elections. No one will argue that Brexit is why crowds at the Queen’s jubilee service booed Johnson when he arrived at the church. However, Johnson’s perceived dishonesty is a by-product of Brexit. The Tories’ perceived failure to keep economic promises is a by-product of Brexit. The flailing economy itself is a partial by-product of Brexit.

Bloomberg says that Brexit scrambled the party’s internal promotion system by creating an ideological test for government jobs. Competent people lost their political position because they were on the “wrong” side of the Brexit debate. Gargoyles such as Jacob Rees-Mogg received promotions because they were on the “right” side. Brexit also created an ideological explosion that has left the party unsure of what it stands for.

Ill-qualified individuals in the UK Conservative party

The UK Conservative party includes the most incompetent individuals. According to the Boar, Boris Johnson and his cabinet are the most incompetent in British history. Boris Johnson has appointed the most controversial, right-wing cabinet in recent times. To serve in the Johnson government, prospective ministers had to join the PM in his commitment to Brexit.

The Guardian says the qualification for being a member of Johnson’s cabinet is loyalty to bad ideas. Thus it is no surprise that Johnson’s cabinet misrules Britain. Johnson did not go into politics for the love of managerial capability. Moreover, he did not appoint his cabinet based on Managerial ability. Johnson recruited from a pool of people who believed in wanton national vandalism under the banner of ideological delusion. Or he recruited the people who were happy to support this romantic delusion to advance their careers.

Byline Times says it is supremely ironic for Johnson’s Government to be so preoccupied with the spectre of unmerited qualifications. For never has a group of such ill-qualified individuals held such high office.

Final remark

Boris Johnson went to Buckingham Palace to inform the Queen that he would form a government. At that time, the world’s media expressed their assessment of the new prime minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. “Tinpot Trump,” said the Germans. Denmark called him “a clown.” And one French newspaper described him as, simply, “an incompetent jester”. The former London mayor, known universally as “Boris”, has done almost nothing well. There has been no speech unmarred by his ill-preparedness. There has been no photo opportunity that has not led to ridicule, no diplomatic encounter free of gaffes On a dramatic first day as UK prime minister, Boris Johnson appointed a cabinet of ministers.

We can conclude that Johnson was an ill-qualified leader of the UK Conservative party. He recruited his ministers from a pool of people he believed were loyal to him regardless of their capabilities. Johnson’s ex-ministers will now support the new prime minister to advance their careers in the UK Conservative party.
