Israel’s so-called retaliatory measure against Iran is in line with its warmongering nature. Israel is destabilising the region with the unwavering support of its Western allies. Israel’s full-scale assaults pose the risk of regional spillover, while a direct attack on Iran could potentially trigger devastating global tension.
Iran Carried a Strategic Attack
Iran and Israel have fought a shadow war for decades, and for the first time, they directly target the soil. Iran, for the first time, directly attacked Israel on April 13 in response to an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. The airstrike took the lives of seven Iranian IRGC officers. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps launched the retaliatory operation, firing 300 drones and missiles at Israel. With the help of Western allies, including the UK and the US, Israel has tried to intercept the missiles and drones during the strike.
Israel’s Weak Response to Iran’s First Direct Attack
Iranians named the attack “True Promise Operation,” which was a mass aerial attack as retaliation for the strikes against the Iranian diplomatic building in Damascus on April 1. For several days, Israel and its Western allies were weighing response to Iran’s strikes, and early on Friday, Israel carried out airstrikes. The Iranian media reported explosions near Isfahan and Tabriz; however, they have not reported any severe damages yet. Israel had vowed to respond to Iran’s April 13 attack; however, during Friday’s assault, Iran’s air defence system engaged, and every key site remained safe there.
Israel Relies on Western Powers
Israel and its Western allies are involved in destabilising the region, and the world has done nothing to stop atrocities. Since October 7, Israel, with the support of Western allies, has pounded the Gaza Strip. Since October 7, Israel has killed around 34 thousand people in Gaza, and millions of people are facing peril and disaster. By atrocities against the Gaza Strip, Israel is destabilising the region. Israel’s brutality has no limitations; however, Iran’s retaliatory powerful aerial attack has ended the myth that Israel cannot be hit. For the first time, Iran targeted Israel from within its border.
Israel Is the Region’s Destabiliser
Iran’s strikes against Israel should not shift focus from the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Israeli aggregations against Palestinian people have a record in history. A guarantor mechanism is essential to prevent the Israeli genocide and should stop the occupation of Palestine. If there is no international will to stop Israel, the region and global security will face serious risks. At the Security Council emergency meeting, the UN Secretary-General stated that the world cannot afford a new war. However, Guterres must consider the bitter fact that Israel is destabilising the region, and the UN must stop the Israeli atrocities.
Israel Could Create a Global Conflict
The US has reiterated its commitment to Israel’s security while Israel is destabilising the region. The US, the UK, and France unequivocally supported Israel at the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council following Iran’s retaliation. Their ignorance of Israel’s assault against Iran’s embassy in Damascus demonstrated their lack of awareness. The hypocrisy of Western powers is evident in their support for Israel while disregarding Israeli aggression. The world must stop ignorance over Israel’s hostility in the region while expressing the importance of its security. Israel is destabilising the region, and the world is on the brink of an abyss.
Western Countries Impose Sanctions on Iran
The US government had already imposed more sanctions on Iran in response to the missile and drone attack on Israel. The new sanctions target the Iranian defence ministry and the IRGC in addition to the leaders and entities connected to the April 13 attack. The US sanctions came in coordination with the UK, which also issued sanctions on Iranian people and entities. The US administration has reiterated that Israel’s allies will issue additional sanctions and measures against Iran. Despite the escalation in the Middle East, the US government and the Western Israeli allies must push for de-escalation in the region.
International Community Must Stop Israel
According to Amnesty International, Israel was imposing an institutional regime of oppression against the Palestinian people. The world has the duty and the means to prevent Israel from committing crimes in Gaza. Israel is destabilising the region, and the US government and the international community, including the US and the UK, should impose sanctions upon Israel. Israel does not comply with International Humanitarian Law while receiving US financial aid and security support. Not being halted, Israel went too far and invaded the Iranian diplomatic building, to which Iran had robustly responded.
Cyberattacks Are Probable
Israeli forces tried to respond to Iran’s strikes by drones on Friday, but another form of conflict between Iran and Israel is expected to happen. A direct military confrontation with Iran will not be in Israel’s interest. However, cyber war will possibly occur in the future. They could probably target critical emergency online services, news websites, and official applications. Although cyber operations are a kind of retaliation without mass casualties, it is not painless. For instance, in 2018, Israel tried to use a cyber-weapon named Stuxnet computer virus to launch a cyber-attack on communication infrastructures.
Israel Must Be Stopped
There is a need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East. With provocative activities, Israel is destabilising the region. Therefore, the international community must make efforts to end the conflict in Gaza. The attack on the Iranian diplomatic building was a de-escalating measure, and it is Iran’s legitimate right to respond to Israeli aggression. Israel has already crossed the threshold and committed war crimes in the region. There is a need for global decisive measures to deter Israel from more aggression.
