Meghan and Revival of Old Hatred!
In Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah, revelations were made that show the royal family’s discrimination and racism. Meghan Markle made dramatic revelations in a two-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey. In the interview, Prince Harry and Megan Markle discussed a wide range of issues, including racism, mental health, media attitudes, and the behaviour of other members of the royal family.
In one part of the interview, Prince Harry said “his biggest fear was history repeating itself”, referring to the fate of his mother, Princess Diana, who died in a car crash as she was chased by the “paparazzi” after his separation from Prince Charles, the British Crown Prince.
It is estimated that more than 11 million people in the UK watched the interview.
The reaction by Buckingham Palace to the interview is thought-provoking.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement that it “takes seriously” the racist issue raised by Megan Markle at the interview and will address it privately. The statement added that the British royal family was “deeply saddened” by the couple’s recent problems. “Harry, Megan and Archie will always be much loved family members,” the statement said.
A crisis management meeting was held at Buckingham Palace following the televised interview of Prince Harry and his wife, Megan Markle.
When questioned, Prince William told reporters that the royals are “very much not a racist family”.
He also said he had not spoken with his brother, but that he was going to.
Duke and Duchess of Sussex Revelations
- Lack of support by the royal family
Meghan announced that the “Firm” determined Archie would not be a prince and, therefore, would not be given protection. “He wasn’t going to receive security. It was really hard. He wasn’t going to receive security”, she said.
Meghan and Harry were most concerned that Archie would not obtain protection without a title. Speaking about the traditional photo taken after birth outside the hospital, Meghan said: “I was very scared of having to offer up our baby knowing that he wasn’t going to be kept safe.” The couple decided to opt out of a Lindo Wing photo and go for a photo-op in the safe environment of Windsor castle. She continued:
“We weren’t asked to take a picture, that’s also part of the damaging spin. I thought, can you just tell them the truth? Can you just say to the world that you’re not giving him a title, and we want to keep him safe, and that if he’s not a prince, then it’s not part of the tradition? Just tell people, and they’ll understand.” But they wouldn’t.

- Meghan’s suicide attempts
She said at the unprecedented interview broadcast on Sunday night that a year after marrying Prince Harry in a lovely wedding, her life as a member of the British monarchy had become so emotionally lonely that she considered suicide. Meghan said that I was embarrassed to have to confess it to Harry; she figured if she didn’t say anything, she would do it. “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore,” she said. “And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought. And I remember — I remember how he just cradled me.”
In an emotional and shocking declaration, Meghan Markle discussed contacting Prince Harry and the royal family for support with recurring suicidal thoughts during her pregnancy, following months of bullying by the press and being barred from leaving home.
Meghan later said she asked a high ranking royal about the possibility of attempting inpatient treatment, but was told it was not feasible because it “wouldn’t be good for the institution.”
- Racism and Archie’s skin colour
Although it seems that Britain is an open-minded society, there were still concerns at the royal palace about the skin colour of Harry and Megan’s first-born.
Members of the family also told Harry and Meghan that they did not want their unborn child, Archie, to be a prince or princess, and expressed concerns about the baby’s skin colour.
Meghan: There were also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born.
Oprah: Who is having that conversation?
M: That was relayed to me by Harry from conversations that the family had had with him.
- Financial cut-off
In the first quarter of 2020, Harry claims, the royal family “literally cut me off financially,” immediately when he and Meghan revealed their intention to stand aside as senior working royals.
Harry told Oprah Winfrey that the money left to him by his late mother, Princess Diana, who died in a car accident in Paris in 1997, gave Harry and Meghan the opportunity to follow their own interests outside of the royal family.
“But I’ve got what my mom left me,” Harry said of the money from Diana’s property. “And without that, we would not have been able to do this.”
Harry also said that his and Meghan’s international contracts with Netflix and Spotify were “never part of the plan,” but that they became necessary after he was informed on “short notice” while staying in Canada with Meghan and Archie that their royal security cover would be revoked due to their change in circumstances as non-working royal family members.
