The Surprising Ripple Effect of 15-Year High-Interest Rates

Elizabeth Mary (Liz) Truss was born in 1975 in Oxford, England. She studied philosophy, politics and economics at Merton College, Oxford (the Teal Mango).

Elizabeth was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Education and Childcare in September 2012. She served as the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from July 2014 until July 2016. Liz Truss was Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice from July 2016 until June 2017. She was Chief Secretary to the Treasury from June 2017 until July 2019.

Elizabeth Truss became Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs on 15 September 2021. She became Minister for Women and Equalities on 10 September 2019. She served as the Conservative MP for southwest Norfolk in 2010 (GOV.UK).

Liz Truss’ parents

According to Grazia, Liz Truss’ parents John Kenneth and Priscilla Mary Truss, are both left-wing. They have different political views from their daughter. Her father was a university maths professor, and her mother worked as a nurse and anti-nuclear campaigner. In an interview, Truss revealed that her father had refused to campaign for her when she stood for election.

Is Liz truss married?

Is Liz truss married? According to Express, Liz Truss is married. She is married to accountant Hugh O’Leary. Liz truss married Hugh O’Leary in 2000 after meeting at a Conservative Party Conference in 1997. The pair have two children together. As Mirror says, Truss is married to Hugh O’Leary, who, like his wife, is a qualified accountant. Hu attended the London School of Economics. Huge O’Leary still works as an accountant to this day, leaving the brutal world of politics to his wife. His age is unknown, though he is probably around 47, like Truss.

Liz Truss’ children

The couple has two daughters ‒ Liberty and Frances. They are around 15 & 12 respectively. The family of four live in Downham Market, Norfolk, but split their time between there and London (express).

As Metro says, Liz Truss keeps her daughters primarily out of the public eye and off her social media. However, she does sometimes post snaps of their birthday cakes on Instagram. She has previously spoken about her daughter Liberty’s influence on her style, with the MP telling You: ‘She introduces me to places I wouldn’t think of much’. Ms Truss told Pienaar’s Politics in 2018 that she had locked her daughter’s phone in a box to stop her from using it too much. Liz said: ‘I’m known as the phone jailer in our household.’ However, she has more recently revealed that she is enlisting their help in her leadership campaign. Frances assists on the social media front.

GoodtoKnow says that Liz Truss is the mother of two daughters – Frances and Liberty. It is thought that Frances turned 16 in March this year. Whilst Liberty is slightly younger – aged 14. Truss is entirely private when it comes to her family life.

Where does Liz Truss live?

According to her website, Liz and her family live in Thetford, a market town and civil parish in Norfolk. They live in a three-bedroom detached house. They have lived there since around 2010. The location allows her to be close to her constituency of South West Norfolk. She has served there as MP for the past 12 years. She divides her time between there and property in London. She has also had a third home at her disposal – Chevening House. It is a countryside mansion located between Biggin Hill and Sevenoaks in Kent. She and Dominic Raab have shared access to the property since she took over from him as Foreign Secretary in 2021 (Metro).

Liz Truss’ affair with married MP

Ms Truss experienced a scandal in 2006 after her affair with former Tory MP Mr Field became public. News of the scandal broke in the Daily Mail in 2006. Mr Field’s 12-year marriage broke down and ended in divorce. However, Ms Truss and Mr O’Leary’s relationship survived (express).

Her affair with the married MP lasted 18 months in 2004 and 2005. The new Foreign Secretary had been sleeping with Mark Field, all while married to Hugh O’Leary. Mr Field had been her mentor. As one senior Tory put it at the time, he “took his mentoring duties more seriously than intended”. Ms Truss told Mr O’Leary she was pregnant a few weeks after the affair ended. The Daily Mail reported the news at the time. She told friends the baby was her husband’s (News.com.au).

How Hugh O’Leary forgives affair with Tory MP

Liz truss married Hugh O’Leary. However, she was unfaithful to her husband. As the Sun says, Truss and O’Leary wed in 2000, just three years after they met. Their marriage hit a rocky patch when her 2006 affair with former Tory MP Mark Field became public. Field’s marriage broke down the same year and ended in divorce. However, Truss’ marriage survived.

The pair have remained private about that time. In 2006 O’Leary said: “I don’t want to talk.”Truss posted a picture of herself with her husband captioned: “Love of my life.” As it says in News.com.au, Mr O’Leary ultimately forgave Ms Truss.

Final remark

Liz Truss could soon be the UK’s new Prime Minister, but her career hasn’t been without scandal. She once engaged in an affair with a married Tory MP. However, her marriage survived it (Mirror). Boris Johnson’s lack of morals badly damaged the country. Now Britain is having another Tory from the same mould. Loyalty is an essential feature of any political leader. Liz truss married Hugh O’Leary, but she had affairs with a married Tory MP! Truss’s disloyalty to her husband makes her unfit for leadership.
