Apparently, Boris Johnson ‘s marriages are not over yet. This time, he has married a girl who is more than 23 years younger than him. This is the second time a prime minister has married while in office in Downing Street. Only time will tell what role the prime minister’s new wife will play in the working relationships of the prime minister’s office.
Secret Ceremony
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has quietly married Carrie Symonds in a private ceremony. This is the first marriage of a British prime minister while in office in the past 200 years. Boris Johnson is the second prime minister after Lord Liverpool to marry while in office. In 1822, Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool, married Mary Chester after separating from his wife.
The ceremony was held at Westminster Cathedral and was attended by only 30 guests, including “Wilfred“, the couple’s son, who was born on 29 April 2020. The British media reported that all the guests were invited shortly before the ceremony.
According to a witness, this was a private ceremony at Westminster Cathedral, which lasted only half an hour. “The church was closed for about half an hour and then everyone came out,” he said. “Most weddings are not held here, and when they came out, they all got on in a car immediately.”
Messages of Congratulations
A number of cabinet officials and ministers congratulated the prime minister on Twitter after hearing the news of his marriage.
Arlene Foster, Northern Ireland’s first minister, congratulated the couple.
“Congratulations on your marriage to @BorisJohnson and @carriesymonds,” British Labour and Pension Minister Therese Coffey wrote on Twitter.
Johnson’s Multiple Marriages
Boris Johnson was scheduled to marry Carrie Symonds six months ago. Only a handful of Westminster church officials knew about the couple’s marriage.
This is Mr Johnson’s third marriage. He finalised his divorce from his second wife, Marina Wheeler, in 2020. Johnson’s first marriage dates back to his student years at Oxford University. In 1987, he married Allegra Mostyn-Owen, daughter of English art historian William Mostyn, while they were studying at Oxford. He divorced her in 1993 and married Marina Wheeler, the daughter of Charles Wheeler, a famous English speaker, 12 days later.
No one knows how many children the current British prime minister has. His third and current wife, Carrie Symondsis actually a Conservative Communications Officer who is more than 20 years younger than Johnson and they do not always get along very well. In June 2019, when the noise of a quarrel between the two at Johnson’s house disturbed the neighbours, they called the police.
His first marriage to Allegra took place in 1987, which ended after Johnson betrayed her and had an affair with Marina Wheeler. Interestingly, Johnson and Wheeler were married just 12 days after Johnson and Owen were officially divorced. He lived with Wheeler for 25 years and ended his second marriage shortly before his relationship with Symonds. Hence, a similar pattern can be found in the prime minister’s marriages and romantic relationships. Boris’ marriage to Marina lasted 25 years, but it was not a pleasant one. The result of this marriage is two girls and two boys who are now 20 and 26 years old.
Confessions
In 2004, Johnson’s wife temporarily left him due to his four-year relationship with a journalist named Petronella Wyatt. After that, the news of his relationship with Anna Fazackerley came, and then with Helen Macintyre. Eventually, his wife decided to get rid of her unfaithful husband and separated from him. He also has a daughter, Helen Macintyre. The seventy-seventh British prime minister is the second person to be separated from his wife while in office. Two other children, including a girl born in 2009, were the result of his affairs with other women. Born in April 2020, Wilfred is the third child of a prime minister in modern British history to be born during his tenure.
Arcuri’s Story
Jennifer Arcuri, who had previously claimed a special relationship with Boris Johnson when he was mayor of London (from 2012 to 2016), told the Sunday Mirror that the prime minister had betrayed his ex-wife, Marina Wheeler, was he was still married to her. The former American model and businesswoman has admitted that she had an affair with Johnson and in one case left the place just minutes before Wheeler returned to the house.
To prove her claim, Johnson’s mistress posted a picture with him and said that she had taken it in the kitchen of the prime minister’s house. According to her, they met almost every week. Arcuri explained that she first met the then mayor of London (Johnson) in a ceremony in 2011 and exchanged contact numbers with Johnson a few months later during the new mayoral election campaign. She says she was at Johnson’s campaign at the time when their love affair sparked. After a friendly meeting for a drink, Johnson texted her to say he could not get her out of his mind, that he loved her and wanted to meet again. Arcuri admitted that their first romantic relationship took place on 29 August 2012, just before the London Paralympics, and that they had a close relationship for four years.
A spokesman for the prime minister said in response to Ms Arcuri’s revelations that she had nothing new to add to the allegations. Arcuri, who is about 20 years younger than Johnson, had previously claimed to have had a special relationship with the former mayor of London (Johnson) but did not disclose any details.
The Guardian reported last year that Johnson’s mistress said in response to a question: “I think there is no need to say that there are many issues … but I do not want to talk about it.” Asked if she was in a romantic relationship with Boris Johnson, Arcuri said in another interview: “At the time, I was deeply in love with him, but I never used romantic expressions. I was very interested in this man and I think this is quite clear. “That’s all I want to say.” Two years ago, the police watchdog launched an investigation into whether Johnson’s working relationships during his time as mayor of London were affected by his friendship with Arcuri.
Johnsons’ Charges & Troubles
It was reported at the time that Ms Arcuri’s Hacker House had received 126,000 pounds two years beforehand and that she had accompanied Mr Johnson on a number of City Council business trips.
London City Council has also launched an investigation into the matter, but nothing has yet been reported a year and a half later. Unconfirmed reports suggest that police watchdog investigations into Johnson have been suspended, prompting protests from members of opposition political parties.
Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds were reportedly planning to get married next summer (2022). The couple sent cards to friends and relatives inviting them to mark 30 July 2022 in their calendar, according to The Sun. Mr Johnson and Ms Symonds announced their engagement in February last year (2020) with the birth of their first child. The two were said to have postponed their wedding until 2022 so as not to violate Covid-19 restrictions. Currently, only 30 people are allowed to gather for special occasions in the UK. The last time of a prime minister was divorce was in 1769. Johnson’s divorce cost him £ 4 million.
Mr Johnson’s finances have been under scrutiny in recent weeks. The prime minister’s office is trying to justify the source of the 88,000pound budget for the renovation of Johnson’s flat in Downing Street, which was supervised by Ms Symonds.
Officials in Downing Street are worried that embarrassing details of his finances will be revealed with the testimony of Dominic Cummings, former chairman of Johnson’s advisery board, to lawmakers this week.
According to the Sunday Times, they are also concerned that Mr Cummings claims in his remarks that Boris Johnson avoided attending an important meeting on Covid-19 to work on Shakespeare’s biography, the proceeds of which helped pay for his divorce from Ms Wheeler.
Special Features
The prime minister has a very different hobby, which is to turn wooden crates of alcoholic beverages into buses. “I feel good when I make a bus model,” he said. “I make models of buses. So what I do, no, I don’t make models of buses, what I do is I get old – I don’t know – wooden crates … Right? And then I paint them,” he added not very convincingly. “It’s a box that’s been used to contain two wine bottles, right, and it will have a dividing thing. And I turn it into a bus. I paint the passengers enjoying themselves on a wonderful bus.”
Boris Johnson has a lot of peculiar habits, like eating 12 espressos a day or using lip balm and hiding alcohol in his handbag when travelling. But he has admitted that he has used or is using drugs, including cocaine. He confessed in a 2005 interview to taking cocaine by the nose, and in 2007 he reaffirmed that he had tried cocaine and marijuana.
Investigation on Job Position Abuse
A Conservative group has called for an investigation into the behind-the-scenes power of Boris Johnson ‘s wife, Carrie Symonds, calling it “kinship”. The first unmarried couple to live at Downing Street after Mr Johnson succeeded Theresa May as prime minister in 2019. But since then, concerns have grown about Symonds’ influence and the couple’s finances.
In February, Downing Street was forced to deny allegations that Mr Johnson’s partner played a key role in running the country. This came after the Bow research group, which includes members of the Tory Pary, called for an independent inquiry into his “position and authority”. According to the Bow Group, Carrie Symonds seems to have a lot of influence in hiring and firing at the prime minister’s office, as well as in policy-making, without holding an official position. The organisation, now backed by prominent conservative figures such as Norman Tibet and Norman Lamont, has called for an independent inquiry into Ms Symonds’s influence.
“The lack of transparency about Ms Symonds’s position and authority, and the uncertainty that she has no power to run the government, pose potentially great dangers to the government, the Conservative Party and the nation,” said Ben Harris Quinn, head of the Bow Group. “People are very sensitive to kinship,” he said. Democracy in Britain is sacred and should always be sacred. “No one should play a role in running our country without being accountable to the people.” The call for an inquiry comes after reports surfaced of Ms Symonds’s role in the shocking dismissal of Oliver Lewis, head of the Union Rescue Unit, and her previous role in the removal of Dominic Cummings.
Recently, two of Symonds’s close friends have been appointed to two key positions in the prime minister’s office. One is Henry Newman, a senior adviser, and the other is Simone Finn, the new deputy chief of staff who hosted Ms Symonds’s 30th birthday party. Ms Johnson also clashed with former adviser to the prime minister, Dominic Cummings, who claimed that by “breaking” the “trivial” stories to the press about the couple’s dog Dilyn, she had diverted Mr Johnson’s attention awary from the pandemic.
Mr Cummings accused her of trying to change appointments, saying that hiring her friends was “not only completely immoral but clearly illegal”, and confirmed that his resignation was “definitely related to this”. Although painting her as Lady Macbeth and a “critical figure” has been dismissed by critics as sexist criticism, no one denies that she has considerable influence beyond the wives of former PMs.
Ms Symonds is keen to soften the image of the government by ousting Britain’s campaign veterans, including Mr Cummings and Mr Lewis, and, as an environmentalist, lead the government towards a green plan.
The Bow group, which is independent of the Conservative Party despite strong ties, said Ms Symonds, who does not have a special adviser role, is not accountable to any minister. This means that her background has never been security-checked to allow her access to confidential government information. The group said the investigation should be conducted in public, the testimony of current and former employees of the prime minister’s office should be taken and the relevant records and correspondence should be published.
Mr Harris-Quinney added: “There have been constant reports in the press that Ms Symonds is playing a key role in running the country without any authority or responsibility in this regard.” “She was neither elected nor appointed,” he said. “She has no legal authority to decide on the appointment of individuals to government positions, to receive confidential information, and to determine the government’s policy.”
Carrie Symonds in Brief
Carrie Johnson, who is 23 years younger than her husband, describes herself on her Twitter account as a “plastic’s protective… protector”. In January, the 33-year-old was appointed head of communications for the Aspinall Foundation‘s Animal Protection Group. It was later revealed that the foundation was being investigated by the Charity Commission under “serious concerns” about “governance and financial management”.
Long before her relationship with the prime minister, Symonds was a Westminster bubble. The daughter of Matthew Symonds, one of the founders of The Independent, she became the head of public relations for the Tory Party at just 29 years old. Prior to this role, Carrie was Sajid Javid’s Special Adviser during his tenure as Secretary of Communities after a period similar to “Spade” John Whittingdale (Special Adviser) at the time of his term of office at Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports. She also worked for Zac Goldsmith in his failed attempt to succeed Mr Johnson as mayor of London. In 2009, Symonds joined the Tory Party media outlet, first as a press adviser, then as head of broadcasting at the Conservative campaign headquarters before the 2015 general election.
Johnson’s relationship with his wife dates back to several years ago, when he worked to succeed in his re-election as mayor of London in 2012. Prior to their political relations, Ms Symonds held several jobs in the world of business communications and marketing. She graduated from the University of Warwick in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in theatre studies and art history.
Final Word
Whether or not the prime minister’s endless sexual desires will come to an end by marrying 33- year old Carrie Symonds is a matter for future judgement. What is important is to see what interventionist role the prime minister’s new wife will play in running the government and the prime minister’s office.
